Power

Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men…”

Sir John Dalberg-Acton, 8th Baronet

power

Greedy minds can’t rule over a prosperous land.
All you know is to take and take
Without giving.
Empty promises with no substance
Leaders with no vision
Its a sore sight
My heart is heavy
How do we let them continue
Is it brainwash or ignorance
We seem to be happy with crumbs
I for one want the whole cake
A slice won’t be enough
We are living a lie
Flirting with poverty
While we make ourselves feel good
Rather look rich than chase wealth.

We keep on making the same mistakes
How can you let your oppressor
Educate your son?
We don’t praise the same God
Yet in him we trust
Praying for a better day.
When we benefit from corruption
We call it connection.
As long as the greedy are in power we will never be free.

  1. I can sense the bitterness and anger. I’ve got similar poems talking about similar topics. Lol. Change will come one day one day. Change will come and when it comes it will come in a way that will turn everything upside down. What they were once holding so close to their hearts with all their might will crumble into sand. One day one day
